"Ten years of exciting auto racing and exhilarating race weekends is worth celebrating," said Tim Ramsberger, President of the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in a media release. "The event just keeps getting better and better. The support we've received from the community is tremendous and has allowed us to grow year after year. We look forward to writing a new page in this event's history and welcoming race fans from around the world to mark this milestone and showcase the best in racing for another year."
The Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is run on a 1.8-mile, 14-turn waterfront circuit that includes a combination of adjacent downtown streets circling Pioneer Park, the Progress Energy Center for the Arts, the Salvador Dali Museum and extending onto the runways at Albert Whitted Airport, which overlook the Tampa Bay and picturesque St. Petersburg Harbor and Marina.
The action starts Friday night at 6:30 with the annual Grand Prix 5K. Proceeds benefiting "Wish For Our Heroes." It's a national charity supporting active duty military personnel facing difficulties.

Drivers race at speeds in excess of 170 mph on a 14-turn course through the streets of downtown St. Petersburg, circling the Duke Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater, the stunning Dali Museum and then onto the runways of Albert Whitted Airport, all overlooking the picturesque city waterfront.
